Vanuatu The country of Happy People

We left Fiji and sailed to Vanuatu, a 4 day sail (500 miles West of Fiji).   The first day was rough seas 8-10 feet and up to 30 knot winds.

Some of the Ni-Vanuatu are subsistence farmers, they live off the land (grow their own food and hunt).  To earn money they sell their fruits and veggies in the market, for farmers this means leaving their home for several days to sell their harvest at the market.   Notice some of the folks laying down and sleeping, they are away from home days at  a time.
Getting comfortable in the market,,, long days in the heat.
There are live chickens,  and live crabs for sale as well.
Check out the peanuts for sale.
Mud Crabs in the wild, not for sale.

The US had a military base, airport and service men stationed in the island of Espiritu Santo to fight the Japanese during WWII.
Diving the USS Coleman sunk by friendly mine in Espiritu Santo, I am showing off the Gas Mask.
It's Loaded!
Love my green tea under water...
On the island of Efata we stopped at a small museum with WWII relics.   Our driver Moby and our friends Jeremy and Keli below.
We enjoyed swinging from this rope into the crystal clear fresh water "Blue Hole"
