United States- New York

We had several long 12 hour days of sailing to get us to Cape May New Jersey.  My family in Pennsylvania lives 4 hours away and they made arrangements to stay in a hotel so we can have all visit while we were at anchor.   On the morning of our planned visit Gary was not feeling well and had a slight fever and decided to test himself for Covid.   We must of picked the virus on our way back from Missouri.   We unfortunately had to cancel plans to visit family in New Jersey & New York.

After resting for 5 days we sailed up the East River through NYC, the current was intense, fortunately Gary planned appropriately and we had 5.5 knots of current with us.   Overall we spent  two weeks resting and isolated on our yacht, outside of sailing by the Statue of Liberty and slipping under all of the historic NY bridges we didn’t do much.

We are mostly recovered from a mild case of Covid and moving on with all our boat chores and projects.   With no shore side fun, I focused my energy in the galley and made some fermented foods.     I bottled some homemade Kombucha which I am able to enjoy now.   In the next couple of weeks my homemade  garlic pickles and sauerkraut will be ready for consumption.

We are looking forward to spending the Fourth of July with friends in Bristol Rhode Island.

Happy Independence Day!
