Annual Status Report- August 2020 to 2021

Another year has gone by, four years on SV Illimite and I have logged 34,825 nautical miles and traveled to 17 countries.

Due to the rest of the world being closed for international travel we kept our travel plans  close to the shores of North America.   Starting in April of 2021 I joined Illimite in Hawaii and we sailed to Alaska and down to Washington.  I recorded fewer sailing miles 5,825 this year as it was only for a five-month period as I was working for part of the year.

Alaska was a lot more fun the second time around.  We did more fishing this year, learned how to shrimp and had the opportunity to visit with friends we made last year.  This year the Canadian government allowed us access to their shores, so we took longer to transit Canada and did some exploring.

To finish off this year we will be sailing down the coast of Washington, Oregon, California, and Baja.  We will be leaving Illimite in Baja Mexico for repairs and our annual trip hope for Christmas.

Our goal is to continue our circumnavigation. Ideally, we would leave for the South Pacific in March; however,  the countries we need to enter are locked down (French Polynesia, Cook Islands, Tonga, New Zealand, Australia).   We will decide in January 2021 based upon countries open versus closed due to the pandemic. If the South Pacific doesn’t open up, we will  do our Sail Plan B which is sailing to Panama. Then transiting in the canal and plopping us back in the Atlantic.  We will sail to the Cayman Islands, eastern coast of USA, and Bahamas.
