USA- Alaska-Warm Springs Bay

Warm Springs Bay is one of our favorite anchorages in the Southeast.  This year we were treated with the full-on wildlife experience.   The salmonberry and huckleberry’s were ripe for eating when we arrived.    On the way to the hot spring I noticed some movement in the bush, and low and behold a female Grizzly Bear, without cubs, was chowing down on the delicious Alaskan berries.   We saw this bear on two different days as she likes to eat first thing in the morning and at the end of the day.

We have seen grizzly bears previously, from the safety of SV Illimite.  See Gary’s blog for our other bear encounters:

We thought the bear was gone but she jumped 50 feet in front of us to walk on the boardwalk, fortunately in the opposite direction.

Looking for Goldie Locks? Can you image waking up to her face looking in on you?
