USA- Hawaii- Island of Ni'ihau (The Forbidden Island)

We left Kauai to sail to one of the out islands that we can anchor at.   Ni’ihau is a private island and is called “the forbidden island”.  As we approached, we were greeted with 25 knot winds and 15-foot swells.    Our plan was to scuba dive there and prepare our boat for passage making.   As it turned out like most other Hawaiian anchorages the wind never lied down, and we were not able to sleep through the night.    The next day we geared up and spent the day prepping Illimite for her 21-day, 2,300 nautical miles voyage to Kodiak Alaska.  “If we can’t sleep, we sail” is our motto.
