Annual Status Report- August 2019 to 2020

Over the last year we have toured Indonesia, Papua New Guinea, Micronesia, Guam, and Alaska.  I have sailed over 11,000 nautical miles this past year.  My overall logged miles on SV Illimite is 29,000.  A circumnavigation from North America through the South Pacific can range from 22,000- 29,000 nautical miles, so for mileage I am feeling somewhat accomplished even though we have sailed in the ‘wrong’ direction to complete an East to West World Circumnavigation.
San Juan, Washington

Due to the whole world closing their borders due the Covid-19 pandemic we had to skip sailing to Saipan and Japan which forced us to do a nonstop sail route from Guam to Alaska.  We both have completed the longest passage (we hope) of our lifetimes 4800 nm 42 days.  Most sailors circumnavigating consider a long passage 20 to 30 days.

We are now in Seattle Washington working on boat repairs.  I will be leaving Illimite for the next 6 months to work, while Gary sails her to Mexico.  While I am working, Gary will be busy tireless working for free on his boat enjoying margaritas and tacos! We have a long list of replacements and repairs in store for Illimite, 2020 is proving to be the biggest repair year of all $$$$$.

Roche Harbor

We have decided on completing a North Pacific loop next year which will allow us to stay in the USA and not have the issues of being denied entry in a foreign port.
