Papua New Guinea- Ninigo Islands- Island of Mal

The islands of Ninigo Atoll are a gem.  They are VERY VERY remote,  the folks here live off the land and are independent.   They grow lots of stuff* and have established trading with their neighboring islands in the atoll.   Only a few families have boats with engines, which they use to ferry kids to high school (@Hermit Island) and to go  the nearest town a 150 miles away to purchase staples such as rice, sugar, and flour.   This island was once taken over by Germans and they planted a Coconut Plantation, there are some families that have German great grandfathers in their family trees.
*(Some things they grow includes Sago Palm, Coconuts, Bread Fruit, Papaya, Taro, Tomatoes, Pumpkin, Cucumber, Snake Bean, Snake Cucumber, Sweet Potatoes, Orange, Corn, Banana, Guava, Kale)(Livestock Chicken and Pigs)

Mal is remarkably clean and manicured.   They keep their homes and sidewalks raked and free of debris and NO LITTER.
