The Similan islands are 68 miles north of Phuket. The uninhabited islands are part of a national marine park which has the best diving that Thailand has to offer. This year the park implemented new rules for entry making it more difficult for boats to get in. There was some research, lots of perseverance, sailing to, and showing up at the Marine Park Office in Phang-Nga province to obtain a permit. Upon arrival we decided to celebrate our good fortune, soak in the views, and sip some bubbly.
