We intentionally made a visit to Auckland to be able to see the Volvo Ocean racing fleet come in. We had to wait a couple extra days to see them come in due to the last storm creating a doldrums en-route from New Caledonia to New Zealand. We rose to the occasion at 1am on a dark and cold night to watch the racers creep in from the shadows to the finish line. We went back to Auckland for the start of the Leg 7 races, we positioned ourselves at TiriTiri Matangi island for boat and bird watching.
