Nelson is the sunniest part of the South island. It is chock full of nice beaches, vineyards, and elegant restaurants. I was fortunate to be introduced to a friend from Miami, Dave. We got a tour of Nelson and his property in the mountains in the outskirts of town. A lot of the land in NZ is used for agriculture and logging. Dave's plot of land was once used to grow tree's and he has invested 10 + years in transforming it to native plants, tree's and garden. If you take care of the forest, nature persists, the birds are thriving there, sounds of the Tui, bell birds, cicadas were magical.
