Central Plateau is loaded with Geothermal activity, hot springs, mud pools, and geysers. We went to a park known as Tikitere to Māori, or Hell's Gate for its forbidding look and rank smell of sulfur! The pools of water and mud were greater than 212 F degree. The hot spring waterfall pictured was visited by the Maori after battles for healing, it looked amazing however we didn't get to bathe in it..

In Rotorua we visited the redwoods Whakarewarewa Forest. Believe it or not they had California Redwoods planted there as it is a similar temperate climate. For fun we did the tree bridge walk, which was more like a creepy swing, I was happy to get off when we were done touring.
